Stephen Ministry

If you have experienced a stressful change in life circumstances you may benefit by meeting one-on-one with a Stephen Minister for Christian encouragement, a listening ear, and assistance in finding additional resources and help that you may need. Such situations include but are not limited to ...

   - illness
   - loneliness
   - spiritual crisis
   - hospitalization
   - loss of employment
   - death of a loved one
   - separation or divorce
   - child birth or adoption
   - moving to or from the community
   - aging or taking care of the elderly
   - sexual confusion, conflict, or addiction

Stephen Ministers are Christians who have special training and on-going Crossroads staff support to model the presence of Jesus Christ through a caring, listening, and encouraging ministry. They work together with our pastors to reach more people with Christian care than the pastors can reach by themselves.

Stephen Ministers do not take the place of professional counseling and are not appropriate for situations involving significant mental health concerns. Think of a Stephen Minister as a caring listener who will meet with you confidentially and regularly for a period of time and walk with you through the uncertainty, disruption, and confusion of whatever your circumstances are. The Stephen Minister's role is not to solve your problem, but to help you to reach a new place of emotional and spiritual stability in your life where you can more effectively cope with your life's circumstances.
